What Was I Thinking?
Over the weekend some friends and I went to dinner at a interesting Burmese restaurant and then headed over to see the final or 3rd installment - depending on how you see it of Star Wars – Revenge of The Sith. While it was not great – it was good and all the story lines tied together nicely for setting up the original trilogy. Then on Sunday, a friend was having a little get together on Long Island near Jones Beach, so a group of us took the LIRR out there for a day of food, fun and sun. Well unfortunately the weather gods were not with us. So we nixed the beach part but still managed to have a good time because he had a nice big house with a huge deck overlooking the river/canal in the back yard. I took two shifts manning the grill and that brought back some fond memories of cooking up some shish kabobs and chicken back in Texas…ooohh…the memories.
Last night a friend who has been running regularly invited me to join them on a nice run in Central Park. It has been a long time I’ve jogged and so it was nice to get my big butt self out there again. At least that is what I thought anyway. My body is so sore now from the 4+ miles we ran yesterday. We started in Midtown made our way up CP east – did a loop around the reservoir and then jogged back down to 72nd and headed for the nearest Crème-Lita frozen yogurt shop we could find. The Snickers flavored treat was soooo good and best of all fat free – at least that is what they advertise anyway. The counter person gave me kind of a small portion and I said – “I just ran over 4 miles – can you like fill it up a little higher please?”. He laughed and ended up giving me almost double the original amount – yeah!!! I needed a treat for the hard workout I had you know. And now I am paying the price for over exerting myself for the Herculean run I had yesterday as my tush – thighs – toes – and back are cursing me right now. Serves me right I suppose....

Runner Bob, run into a shoe store that will give you a good fit on a new pair of running shoes. They should watch you walk and run to see what kind of shoe would be best for you! A great shoe makes a world of difference. Call the New York Road Runners Club and I bet they can give you the name of a store or two that will help you get an excellent fit! Then maybe no more aches and pains! Have you applied any creams or ointments to help relieve the pain and suffering? (Some advice: Not before work...you will smell!)

P.S. Were you trying to impress a running parterness with your Herculean run?

Hey Mr. Nosey,
How did you now whether it was a partneress or not...hmmm...are you spying on me from the bushes in CP?
As for the Herculean run, I was just inspired by the fond memories of running with an Old Indiana Sage many moons ago.

Hey Bob and all other "Macho men" of the Herculean type runners. There's a great run I read of recently--up an active volcano--and then a bike ride back down. People from Indiana would love it too! What's next for you? The Ironperson run? Enjoy Memorial Day all readers. Temporarily autoless. Not running but walking again.
