Tree-mendous

Last night after dinner, my roomies and I decided to stop by Rockefeller Center to see the tree. I saw the tree a few years back on a trip and it was just amazing this time as it was the last time. The bright lights made it so festive and Christmas-y. New York is just one b-e-a-u-tiful place during the holiday season. Everything is lit up and it just puts you in the Christmas spirit. I thought I would share these facts about the tree with you. And I also posted some pictures for those of you who won't be able to make it to NYC this holiday season. Enjoy!

 This year’s tree is a Norway Spruce

 It is 71 feet tall, 40 feet wide and weighs 18,000 pounds

 A 9 ½ foot star crowns the tree top

 The star is adorned with 25,000 Swarovski Crystals

 Glistening in the branches are 30,000 lights, held up by 5 miles of wire

 The tree is about 50 years old

 It was found in Suffern, New York

 It will be on display until January 6th

 2.5 million people will have seen this tree in person

 Rates for ice skating - $17 plus $8.00 for skate rentals

 Waiting time – ridiculously long but you can be entertained by a very cool snowflake show(see pictures) with accompanying music every half hour. Think Bellagio water show at Las Vegas – well maybe not quite.

how thoughtful and considerate of you Bob! thanks for sharing! you are such a nice guy when you want to be (smile). you can sometimes have a healthy "the jones' " attitude about you (smile). i wished i could see it all--i've heard so many new yorkers say the very same thing NY is beautiful during the holiday season. maybe i'll just drop in on you don't be surprised if you see me. my pc finally got working at 5:30 a.m. this morning it still wasn't working at 4:00 a.m. ...i think the thing is possessed! the victorious disciples luncheon is tomorrow from
11 - 1...i know in your heart you support those efforts.
